See you on Monday for the first Monday of November
Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate three years of Move Me Monday during October, including almost 50 new movers! Congratulations to Katie Killacky for winning the new mover starter pack and to the Friday Follow and Sweaty Selfie winners, thank you to everyone who participated and posted! Special thank you to our sponsors Athleta, Columbus Running Company and Garage Cotton for their generous support!

The success of our #MoveMeMonday initiative depends on three key groups - our movers, our storytellers, and our sponsors.
We ask Storytellers to consider this topic 'How has cancer impacted you' and we post their narrative with a picture. While our one-for-one model helps encourage participation, it is our Storytellers who make the difference for Move Me Nation! We are grateful that you share your story with us and inspire people to move on Mondays.
Thank you to our incredibly generous #MoveMeMonday sponsors who have played an integral role in helping LWDF raise over $115,000 to support cancer research! Every Step Counts, Every Beat Counts, Every Dollar Counts!
Our sponsors are individuals and organizations that help us raise and/or donate $1 for every beat earned. Given the week to week uncertainty we work with our sponsors to establish an amount they’re comfortable donating and we will seek co-sponsors when our community has an amazing week. We could always use your help so please let us know if you're interested in helping sponsor a #MoveMeMonday!
Thank you to EACH and EVERY person who has participated in #MoveMeMonday! We are so proud of the Move Me Nation - over 1,500 movers have posted beats over the past 3 years! Can we count on your beats?
Why do we ask you to move with us? See links below for more information!
Not exercising worse for your health than smoking, diabetes and heart disease, study reveals. "The benefits of exercise were seen across all ages and in both men and women." CNN
During their lifetime, one in three Americans will be diagnosed with cancer. And second only to avoiding tobacco, current evidence says that maintaining a healthy body weight throughout life may be the most powerful thing you can do to reduce cancer risk. Research links excess body fat with greater risk of at least 12 different cancers. That includes some of the most common cancers, such as postmenopausal breast cancer and colorectal cancer, as well as advanced prostate cancer.
Look for choices in what you eat and drink that allow you to shave portions, especially of foods that are concentrated in calories but not nutrients.
If you’ve given up some sports or activities, search out new options for keeping active. Bouts of 10 or 15 minutes scattered throughout the day provide many of the same benefits as longer-lasting activity.
Consider how much time you spend sitting, and if it’s been increasing, replace some of it with even light activity.
Switch socializing opportunities to focus less on eating and drinking, and more on conversation. If they can provide opportunities for movement, that’s even better.
