We are honored to share Leigh’s story and celebrate her two year anniversary of being cancer free! Thank you Moynihans for generously sponsoring this week!
This Move Me Monday, we are moving for our real life hero: Dr Chau T. Dang. She has led groundbreaking research which ultimately changed the standard of care for patients like me with HER2+ breast cancer. She is an undeniable force in the fight against breast cancer. And importantly, she believes showing care & compassion to her patients is just as important as the treatment plan itself.
When I saw her a few days ago, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. She's given me more time with my family and my family of friends, more time for soccer and flag sidelines, more Friday sushi dates with my love, more game-time with my 'monkeys', more Sunday fundays, more Move Me Mondays. So lace up and show us your beats! This one's for Dr Dang and all the important work she and her colleagues are doing to find a cure!
Leigh's 2020 Move Me Monday story:
In April 2019, I was diagnosed with HER2+ breast cancer and our world changed overnight. We will forever be grateful for the expert care of our team of doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering, the unwavering support of our family and family of friends, and the compassionate advice and tell-it-like-it-is guidance from fellow survivors who got me through chemo/surgeries/infusions. Most of all - I will be moving this Monday for the three most important people in my life - Brendan (my rock), Braden and Liam - who gave me the courage to grit my teeth and fight with everything I had - and are my daily motivation to power through and push for a cure.
